Welcome to the new website!
SP 4688 tails the end of the MARSPOT local to Wilmot: 2005 Western Prototype Modelers meet. La Habra, CA.I have often hoped and pondered in the past if Free-mo would find acceptance and perpetuate a critical mass to the point where I no longer could be the sole proprietor of the website. The time actually came last year when several people offered to help me because I could no longer keep up with the demands that the website required to keep it up to date.
I was the webmaster for 10 years to get the specification out to the masses over the internet. I firmly believe that none of this would have happened if it was not for the web. It has been gratifying to see an idea not only accepted but flourish. Today we turn over a new leaf and now the new free-mo.org website will be in a position to handle the demands of a North American phenomenon!
This is all just the beginning. My knowledge of the internet is limited to the late 90's when I was professionally working in the web development field. As technology grew and my career migrated to print, my abilities were left behind in the quickly evolving world of the web. I am turning webmaster duty to Mike Roque. He has been paramount in setting up the backend and helping getting the design of the site established. I leave the technical aspect of free-mo.org in his very capable hands.
There are several authors that will be frequent contributors to this site. Some are extremely established authors that have been published in the model railroad press including: Model Railroader, Railroad Model Craftsman, Railmodel Journal, etc. Expect the stories to be very informative and thought provoking. This is a hobby that is in a state of new growth. It is up to Free-mo to lead in a new era and establish the new order of how the hobby will play out in the hands of modelers, artisan and, craftspersons. We all are mavericks to a certain degree for finding our place in something so new and fresh. The next few years will lead to many innovations that will radically expand the paradigm and accommodate new discovery into our every day modeling adventures. This is a very exciting time and I am happy to see you all here at the ground level of the big leap into mass acceptance of Free-mo.
Enjoy!
